Pastor Lamar C. Nickens is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Speak Life World Ministries™, a non-denominational, Christ-centered digital ministry rooted in Scripture and expressed through music, teaching, and prayer. His calling is to communicate the Gospel in ways that reach people where they already are—culturally, spiritually, and digitally—using music as a bridge to the living Word of God.

A Foundation Laid Early

Some of Pastor Lamar’s earliest memories of faith were formed during summers and holidays spent with his great-grandparents in Front Royal, Virginia, at John Wesley United Methodist Church. During those years, church was not simply a Sunday experience—it was a way of life. He spent countless hours alongside his great-grandmother as she faithfully served the church, vacuuming carpets, dusting pews, ensuring every seat held a Bible and hymnal, and preparing communion vessels filled with real Welch’s grape juice.

Beyond Sundays, the rhythm of church life included choir rehearsals, Bible study, men’s and women’s ministry, and nightly service. Through this immersion, Pastor Lamar witnessed a faith that was lived quietly, consistently, and with deep devotion—planting seeds that would later bear fruit.

A Personal Encounter With Faith

While raised around the church, Pastor Lamar did not begin attending on his own until his senior year of high school. At age 17, he began attending First Baptist Church of Sterling with a friend, where he encountered a young, dynamic preacher whose teaching spoke directly to his soul. It was there that Pastor Lamar made a personal commitment to Christ and was baptized.

In that same church, he later married and experienced the joy of baptizing his wife and their first son. Over the years, his family continued to grow. Pastor Lamar is now the father of four children—three sons and a daughter, the youngest. 

This season of life deepened his understanding of faith not as something forced, but as something nurtured.

A Journey Through Search and Return

Following challenges within the church and his own faith walk, Pastor Lamar entered a season of exploration—seeking understanding across religious traditions, philosophies, and cultures. He studied the Qur’an, the Book of Mormon, Buddhist and Hindu teachings, and works such as The Autobiography of Malcolm X and The Purpose Driven Life. He visited mosques, engaged different belief systems, and wrestled with questions of identity, justice, truth, and God.

Ultimately, it was Christianity—centered on Christ, grounded in Scripture, and alive through grace—that spoke most clearly and consistently to his faith. This journey strengthened his conviction, deepened his understanding, and sharpened his ability to speak to believers, seekers, and even doubters with honesty and compassion.

Music, Media, and Ministry Converge

As Pastor Lamar returned fully to the Christian faith, his gifts as a musician, songwriter, performer, and audio professional became inseparable from his calling. He served closely with choirs and bands, worked as an audio technician within the church, and became deeply immersed in Scripture—once again spending countless hours inside the church, mirroring the devotion he witnessed from his great-grandmother decades earlier.

Professionally, Pastor Lamar brings over a decade of experience in live sound, recording, radio, and media production. His background includes work in the recording industry, operating his own studio for more than ten years, collaborating with artists, musicians, businesses, and community organizations, and working in broadcast environments including NPR and SiriusXM.

Today, that experience fuels a ministry uniquely positioned for the digital age.

Speak Life World Ministries was born from the conviction that songs can be sermons and lyrics can teach Scripture. Pastor Lamar’s music-centered ministry delivers biblical truth through faith-inspired lyrics, paired with Scripture references that invite listeners to study, reflect, and grow.

His work has reached a broad and diverse audience, with over 60,000 followers across multiple platforms, multiple viral videos, and millions of views worldwide. Yet the heart of the ministry remains deeply pastoral—focused not on numbers, but on transformation.
